Social responsibility and sustainability

Ivančica has developed and manufactured footwear in Ivanec since 1946. We consider our responsibilities towards the environment, employees, business partners and the local community in how we manage and develop the company.

In 2025, we adopted an ESG strategy covering our environmental impact, responsibilities towards people, and transparent, responsible governance. We use data to track our progress and gradually improve our production and business processes.

Our work includes product development, material selection, more efficient use of resources and cooperation with suppliers. This page presents the specific practices and goals that help us manage our impact.

Code of Ethics at Ivančica d.d.

Ivančica’s Code of Ethics sets out the principles of integrity, honesty, transparency and social responsibility that guide our business. It applies to all employees, regardless of their role in the company.

Product development and material selection

When developing Froddo footwear, we consider each model’s intended use, fit, function and material properties. Materials vary between models, so we provide details of their composition and features on each product page.

Ivančica is a member of the Leather Working Group (LWG) and sources leather from LWG-certified suppliers. LWG certification applies to the facilities where leather is produced, not to the finished shoe.

As we develop new models, we explore the use of different materials, including recycled materials where they meet the product’s technical requirements. By modernising our production processes, we also work to use materials more efficiently and reduce waste.

Energy, production and climate targets

We commissioned our first solar power plant in 2021 and built a second one in early 2025. Today, we generate approximately one third of the electricity we need at our own facilities. We source the remaining purchased electricity from renewable sources, as documented by the ZELEN certificate.

We regularly calculate our carbon footprint. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated our emissions reduction targets. These cover direct emissions from our operations, emissions related to energy consumption and other indirect emissions across our value chain.

We continue to modernise our production processes and work to use energy and materials more efficiently. Our management systems follow ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 14001 for environmental management and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety.

Packaging

Packaging protects footwear during storage, transport and delivery. When selecting it, we consider its function and the amount of material used. We work to reduce unnecessary packaging and promotional materials supplied with our products.

Packaging materials vary by type of packaging and market. Reusable fabric bags are also available in our stores.

Packaging development is part of our wider effort to use resources more efficiently. We monitor the materials we use and explore opportunities to improve them.
